Bliss is changing...

You can look at change with disappointment or as an opportunity.

We see it as an opportunity to evolve.

Carolyn has decided to leave the band to play with Taylor Groove.  We are happy for her, she is playing the Olde Time Music she loves, following her bliss.  We will miss her mandolin, harmonies and unique outlook.  

It gives us the chance to evolve our sound.  We are adding Karen on keyboard for some songs.  Piano is Karen's first instrument, she is an amazing teacher.  I am really looking forward to adding the keyboard in part because when I see Karen play the piano she plays with passion and clearly loves it I know that that will come through in the music.  That is what it is about.  You may even hear Cathy singing harmony in addition to her amazing violin playing.

Bliss in the Studio

We are finishing up our first full length CD at Thundering Sky in Berwick ME.  WE are excited that we are going to have some special guests add a little groove to Bliss!  More to come...

Getting Started Blogging

Well this is my first blog.  I was inspired by a couple of blogs I read- The Zen Blog and Amethyst Wyldfyre, I also like Mashable!  Plus, I just started running again and my shuffle wasn't charging and all of these ideas came to me, I felt like sharing them.
I am the Mom of 3 boys, happily married, full time/flexible job, that I enjoy, I am in a band- Bliss, I have a great family (Mom, Dad, sisters, brother) and many friends.   I hope that people will read my blog and get inspired, laugh or just think about something a little differently.

What inspires you?  How do we inspire those around us?  What about our kids how do we get them motivated to dream and work hard and find what motivates them.

I am really amazed that a 16 year old girl wanted to sail around the world.  Whether her parents should have let her is another question, but I am so intrigued by what motivated her.  I know her brother did it at 17  and set the record and then someone else knocked him out.  Could it really be the drive to set a record?  I don't think so, but as a parent of a 16 year old I am curious.

The other story that really got my attention is Daniel Nava, the kid who hit a GRAND SLAM on his first time up in the major leagues for the Red Sox!  It was the first pitch.  What I love about the story is that he was cut from his college team, but he stayed on as manager so he could practice.  That is perseverance!  It is that time of year when my kids are trying out for soccer.  We are all so worried about which team they are going to be on, how many kids, who will coach... how do we teach our kids to keep trying even if they don't make the team, or they make the B team instead of the A team?  That is a good life lesson.  *if any of the coaches or evaluators are reading this, don't feel like I am ready to teach this lesson:)
